Sinn Féin comment on appointment of new Director General for 6 County Prison Service
Sinn Féin deputy Chair of the Assembly Justice Committee Raymond McCartney MLA has this afternoon said he is ‘glad’ that this position has been filled in a speedy fashion.
Speaking this afternoon Mr McCartney said;
“I am glad that this position has been filled in such a speedy fashion; I am sure that Colin McConnell will be more than aware of the many difficult challenges facing the Prison Service here in the north.
We now need to see Mr McConnell get to work on the very serious issues of concern address in a professional manner.
For our part Sinn Féin will continue our work to ensure that the north achieves a Prison Service that is fit for purpose in the 21st Century.” CRÍOCH
