Ó Snodaigh slams mischievous newspaper reports on theft of his car
Sinn Féin Justice spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD, whose car was stolen and burned over the Christmas period, has said that contrary to misleading newspaper reports today, he did report the theft in person to the Gardai.
Aengus Ó Snodaigh said:
“Contrary to newspaper reports today, I did in fact report in person to Kilmainham Garda station the theft of my 14-year-old car over the Christmas period.
“I also visited Ballyfermot Garda station and spoke to Gardai there to check the extent of the damage to the car as it was found in their district.
“Furthermore I spoke to Gardai from Harcourt Terrace who called to my home to investigate the theft.
“I even spoke to the Garda Commissioner's office when they rang to inquire into the matter.
“This is now a Garda matter.
“The inaccurate and mischievous reporting by certain newspapers today does nothing to highlight the fact that car theft is a huge issue for communities and that the Gardai should be given all possible help and support to tackle this and the related issues of joyriding and the criminal damage and burning of cars.”
