Government should go now - Adams

10 January, 2011 - by Pat Sheehan

Speaking during a break in a meeting of party candidates in Dublin today Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams said the Government should leave office on foot of the revelations about Brian Cowen’s meeting with Seán Fitzpatrick prior to the bank guarantee.

Mr. Adams said:

“The Fitzpatrick revelations again expose a Government which is incapable of governing in the interests of citizens.

“There is no public trust or confidence in the Government. It should go.

“The Green Party needs to find some backbone and stop keeping Fianna Fáil in power.

“The Irish people need a new Government with a clear mandate to reject the IMF/EU bailout, separate the private banking debt and produce a programme to get people back to work.” ENDS
