Ireland needs a complete change of direction rather than simply a new Fianna Fáil spin doctor at the helm – Doherty

18 January, 2011 - by Pearse Doherty TD

Sinn Féin TD Pearse Doherty, responding to Mícheál Martin’s interview on Morning Ireland this morning, has said Ireland needs a complete change of direction rather than simply a new Fianna Fáil spin doctor at the helm.

Deputy Doherty said:

“Speaking on Morning Ireland this morning Mícheál Martin said he agrees with the policy and the direction that Brain Cowen has led us in. However he feels the Taoiseach has not communicated properly and that he could do a better job.

“That is an insult to the Irish people who are suffering at the hands of this Government and is typical of the arrogance of Fianna Fáil.

“That arrogance is also typified by the current leadership heave within Fianna Fáil. The fact that they would take a poll of their parliamentary party but continually ignore the wishes of the people shows exactly where their priorities lie.

“Ireland needs a complete change of direction rather than simply a new Fianna Fáil spin doctor at the helm.” ENDS
