Greens should pull out now – Ó Caoláin

22 January, 2011 - by Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin TD

Sinn Féin Dáil leader Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin has called on the Green Party to pull out of Government and “end this travesty of democracy”.

He said:

“The resignation of Brian Cowen as leader of Fianna Fáil but not as Taoiseach compounds the travesty of democracy that has been going on for months past, since this disastrous Government sold sovereignty to the IMF and the EU.

“Now a Taoiseach who has long ago lost the confidence of the people and who has now also totally lost the confidence of his party is to remain in office to force through a regressive Finance Bill in an effort to embed the sell-out IMF/EU deal which will impoverish people for years to come.

“This deal, this Bill and this Government should be dumped and dumped now and there should be an immediate General Election. The Green Party should pull out of Government now and allow the people their democratic right to vote.” ENDS
