Finance Bill should not be put before this Dáil – Doherty
Speaking ahead of a meeting of Finance Spokespeople in the Department of Finance this afternoon Sinn Féin TD Pearse Doherty said the Finance Bill should not be put before this Dáil.
Deputy Doherty said:
“The people of Ireland are demanding an immediate general election. The have also been demanding that budget 2011, the most savage budget in the history of the state, be rejected.
“This week we have an opportunity to give the people both of these things.
“Any party that is opposed to the Finance Bill should not facilitate its passage through the Dáil this week. To do otherwise would be deceitful and would amount to an act of political fraud.
“Instead of facilitating the passing of this bill the Labour Party should move its motion of no confidence in order to bring down this Government and bring about an immediate general election.” ENDS
