Temple Street to close for four weeks while billions continue to be pumped into banks – McDonald

30 January, 2011 - by Pat Sheehan

Sinn Féin Vice President and Dublin Central election candidate Mary Lou McDonald has said the proposed closure of Temple Street Children’s Hospital for four weeks this year is a direct consequence of this Government’s economic approach and the consensus for cuts.

Ms McDonald said:

“Temple Street Children’s Hospital is vitally important to families right across the Northside of Dublin and beyond.

“The proposal to close the hospital for four weeks this year in a cost saving measure will have far reaching consequences for many children some of whom are already waiting up to three years for an appointment.

“This situation is a direct consequence of this Government’s economic approach and the consensus for cuts which is supported by Fine Gael and Labour.

“While the Government continues to pump billions into failed banks our children continue to suffer the consequences.” ENDS
