McElduff extends sympathies to family of Ben Robinson
Sinn Féin MLA and chair of the Culture, Arts and Leisure Committee, Barry McElduff, has expressed his condolences to the family and friends of Ben Robinson, the young Carrickfergus Grammar school pupil who died following his participation in a schools rugby match.
Speaking today Mr McElduff said:
“I would like to send my condolences to the family and friends of Ben Robinson. It is certainly a tragedy when someone so young, and committed to his sport dies playing the sport he loved.
"Of course Ben's family will be affected more than anyone else and my thoughts are with them. Beyond that it will undoubtedly be a great shock to his school friends and his teachers.
“No major footballing code has been spared this type of tragedy and I am quite sure that there will be strong support for the Robinson family in the time ahead from the sporting and wider community.”
