FF candidate scores own goal

24 February, 2011

Sinn Féin Dublin North East candidate Larry O'Toole has said that Fianna Fáil candidate Averil Power has scored an own goal by distributing hundreds of leaflets in Portmarnock urging people to 'vote for Averil to keep Sinn Féin out'.

Cllr. O'Toole said:

“Sinn Féin election workers and supporters in Portmarnock have confirmed that Fianna Fáil candidate Averil Power has been distributing hundreds of leaflets in Portmarnock urging people to 'vote for Averil to keep Sinn Fein out'.

“The feedback we are getting tells us that the Fianna Fáil candidate has scored an own goal. Her leaflet merely confirms the fact that if people want to ensure that no Fianna Fáil candidate is elected in Dublin North East then they should vote Larry O'Toole, Sinn Féin, Number 1.

“In all parts of Dublin North East which Sinn Féin has canvassed and leafleted extensively we have heard countless numbers of people tell of their anger at Fianna Fáil and what they have done to this country and to people's livelihoods, especially the toll of unemployment and emigration of young people.

“Averil Power and Fianna Fáil are clearly desperate to avoid the electoral drubbing they so richly deserve. I am confident that the voters of Dublin North East will deliver their verdict and endorse the principled republican representation of Sinn Féin ahead of the gombeen politics of Fianna Fáil.” ENDS
