McGuinness promotes our ‘creative industries’ sector

22 March, 2011

Speaking at the Arts Council Headquarters in Belfast this morning deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness MP, MLA said;

"Ireland is renowned for its culture, its creativity and art. Every corner of the island is alive with enterprise, art and creative thinking.

It is not a new thing, but it is our thing.

An investment of over £4million per annum is being made with NI Screen and for every £1 invested in it over the last three years, there has been a return of £4.60 to the local economy.

Our Executive is about to complete its first full term since the restoration of devolution twelve years ago. Great progress has been made in building relationships and laying the foundation for the future. We now need to do more to realise the potential that exists of for us internationally and at home

We need to continue to promote creative thinking and innovation not only for their economic value but because of the changes they can bring to us all." CRÍOCH
