Urgent action needed to address unacceptable living standards in Dolphin House – Ó Snodaigh

28 March, 2011 - by Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD

Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Social Protection Aengus Ó Snodaigh has called on the Government to take urgent action to address the unacceptable living standards in Dolphin House.
The Sinn Féin TD was responding to reports today which show people living in damp, mouldy conditions with dangerous spores on their walls, with many residents even having to deal with raw sewage.
Deputy Ó Snodaigh said:
“This has gone beyond just a housing issue – this is now a human rights issue. It is totally unacceptable for people to be forced to live in such appalling conditions.
“Residents have reported cases of mould, damp, dangerous spores and shockingly raw sewage in their homes.
“This is an intolerable situation. The Government must take urgent action now to address this crisis and fund the much needed regeneration of the flats. “
