Rachel Peavoy should have been housed long ago – Ellis

7 April, 2011 - by Dessie Ellis TD

Dublin North West Sinn Féin TD Dessie Ellis, responding to the results of the inquest into the death of Rachel Peavoy, said it is clear Ms Peavoy should have been housed long ago rather than being left isolated in her Ballymun flat.

Speaking today Deputy Ellis said:

“My thoughts are with the family and friends of Rachel Peavoy at this sad time.

“It is clear from this whole episode that nobody should be left isolated in the manner that Rachel was. Rachel should have been housed long before her death.

“Had she been housed she would have had better access to family and friends along with a much improved standard of housing.

“These things are hugely important and I believe that had Rachel been housed her untimely death may not have occurred.” ENDS
