Sinn Féin tables emergency motion to stop €700 million bond payout
The Sinn Féin Dáil team has placed an emergency motion to the Dáil to stop the handover of €700 million to an unguaranteed bondholder in Anglo Irish Bank.
The text of the motion is as follows:
That this Dáil opposes the handover of €700 million of taxpayers money by Anglo Irish Bank (Irish Bank Resolution Corporation) to an unguaranteed, unsecured senior bondholder and that the Government instruct the Anglo Irish Bank (Irish Bank Resolution Corporation) chairperson Alan Dukes to withhold this payment which is due to be paid today. - Gerry Adams, Mary Lou mc Donald, Caoimhghín O Caoláin, Aengus O Snodaigh, Michael Colreavy, Seán Crowe, Pearse Doherty, Dessie Ellis, Martin Ferris, Sandra Mc Lellan, Mary Lou mc Donald, Padraig Mac Lochlainn, Jonathon O'Brien, Brian Stanley, Peadar Tóibín.
