Crowe welcomes €10 million relief fund to help victims of flooding
Sinn Féin TD for Dublin South West Seán Crowe has welcomed a response from the Taoiseach that €10 million in assistance will be paid to the victims of the recent floods that affected areas across Dublin and parts of the east coast.
The Taoiseach was responding to Deputy Crowe who today in the Dáil urged the government to follow the example established by the Irish Red Cross and set up a relief fund for those whose property was damaged in October’s record rainfall.
“I welcome today’s announcement by the Taoiseach that €10 million will be made available to help the victims of the floods that caused untold damage to homes across Dublin and parts of the east coast.
“With Christmas on the horizon and the cold winter months fast approaching I hope this money will provide some relief for the thousands of people who were affected by this latest flooding.
“The relief funding is badly needed and should be distributed quickly and efficiently. The many people whose homes and property were and damaged could not afford household insurance or were unable to secure cover because of similar incidents that have occurred in the past have now been thrown a lifeline.
“This fund will go some of the way to lifting the burden on families affected by the flooding of the 23rd-24th of October.”
