Adams - demand for change will transform local government
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams MP speaking at the launch of the party's Dublin campaign for the Local Government elections said "the demand for change, which is evident in every county in Ireland, could transform local government on June 11th if people go out and vote for Sinn Féin; the only party in this election which is organised throughout this island and which is committed to real change".
Mr. Adams said:
"Over the last four weeks I have visited more than half of the counties in Ireland and I have never before heard so many voices from across all sections of society demanding change.
There is a real anger because despite the increase in wealth in the state, life has become increasingly difficult.
It is important not to become disillusioned.
It is important that with less than four weeks to go that people make sure that they are on the electoral register.
The face of Councils in the North was changed, not by sitting back, but by getting out on polling day to elect Councillors who are committed to bringing about equality, local accountability and real progress.
Sinn Féin can deliver change. We have proven that in the peace process, in political institutions the length and breath of Ireland and in local communities.
Our Councillors have a record of work second to none and when they are joined by new councillors after June 11th, they will bring a new dynamic to local government in Dublin.
We can make a real difference in how this city is run. Sinn Féin Councillors will also be part of our All-Ireland team of elected representatives who are building a New Ireland.
"I want to make a direct appeal to the electorate to trust Sinn Féin in Dublin, to trust Sinn Féin nationally, to give us the chance to show you the type of change that we can deliver."
