McCann welcomes decision on non-molestation orders
Sinn Féin MLA Jennifer McCann has welcomed the decision by the PSNI to retain control over non-molestation orders relating to domestic violence.
The West Belfast MLA said:
“This is a welcome decision and one which our party have been lobbying for. There was concern that if non-molestation orders regarding domestic violence were not served by the police and given over to private security firms, it would diminish the perceived severity of the crime.
“The fact that it remains in the hands of the police will afford the victims of domestic violence a greater level of confidence that the non-molestation orders will be treated with the seriousness they deserve.” CRÍOCH/END
