Following visit to Hydebank Prison, Sinn Féin repeats call for Marian Price release

14 March, 2012 - by Jennifer McCann

Sinn Féin MLAs Jennifer McCann and Sean Lynch today visited Hydebank Prison and again repeated the call for the release of Marian Price.

A member of the Assembly's Justice Committee, Jennifer McCann said:

“We again call for the immediate release of Marian Price who is being held through the revoking of her license. Given the fact that she has been bailed on the charges she was originally arrested for, there is no justification whatsoever for her continued detention and isolation. Sinn Féin is against the revoking of licenses and if there is any evidence against someone it should be brought before a court of law.

“Unfortunately Marian Price again refused to meet us. We met with prison officials and discussed and inspected her living conditions.  Her continued detention is a serious concern given her medical condition and she should be released immediately so that her medical needs can be addressed adequately.”
