Sinn Féin to challenge government on use of public funds for referendum information
Sinn Féin believes that the government is in breach of the McKenna judgement in its use of public funds for its so-called information campaign on the forthcoming referendum on the Austerity Treaty.
The McKenna judgement found that it was unconstitutional for the government to use public funds to support one side in a referendum campaign.
Sinn Féin is taking legal advice on the matter. It is important that citizens receive independent and unbiased information, so that they can make an informed decision on polling day.
