Minister celebrates traditional arts and crafts at Derrygannon
Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure, Carál Ní Chuilin, was in Fermanagh to celebrate the Derrygannon Community Hall centenary.
Speaking at the Hall the Minister said: “For almost 100 years this hall has acted as a focal point for its community. Places like these are where people come to learn, nurture talent as well as meet and share common interests.
“I am sure the centenary tapestry of old photographs will provide a stunning way to present many of the happy memories that have happened here over the years.
“I was also given the opportunity to see many of the other activities available here at the Derrygannon Community Hall and Craft centre. I am especially impressed to see the traditional skills of creel and basket making being kept alive and passed down to the younger generations. I would like to thank everyone who has made me feel so welcome here in Derrygannon. The community spirit here is certainly alive and well and I am sure the Community Hall and Craft Centre will provide the focal point for this for many years to come.”
