Ballymurphy families call for meeting with Taoiseach
A delegation representing the families of those murdered by the British army in Ballymurphy, led by Sinn Féin MLA for West Belfast Pat Sheehan, has met with officials from the Irish Governmentyesterday in their on-going campaign for justice.
Speaking today Pat Sheehan said:
“This was a positive and constructive meeting with representatives from the Irish Government and part of the on-going series of engagements by the families representatives.
“One of the main issues discussed was the abysmal manner by which the families have been treated by both British Prime Minister David Cameron and his Secretary of State in the North Owen Patterson.
“Despite a series of calls for meetings with the British Prime Minister he has not even had the courtesy to reply to the families letters. The families also requested a meeting with the Taoiseach, Enda Kenny in Dublin to raise their concerns.
“Sinn Féin will continue to support the families in their on-going campaign for justice for their loved ones.”
