Doherty and MacLochlainn seek clarification on allowances
Pearse Doherty TD and Padraig MacLochlainn TD have met with a senior official in the One-Stop-Shop in the Oireachtas which administers members’ salaries and allowances on behalf of the Houses of the Oireachtas Commission.
This official has noted the questions asked by the deputies regarding their use of their travel and accommodation allowances. At this time their queries are being considered and have not yet been answered.
While awaiting this clarification, there is no suggestion by anyone that the funds in question were used for anything other than what Sinn Féin members were elected to do: to represent their constituents and provide an excellent constituency service.
There is no suggestion but that the deputies acted in good faith, however, if any irregularity is discovered, the deputies will rectify this.
