Speaking from Tallaght Deputy Crowe said:
“Today is a great day for Sinn Féin in South Dublin. It is an indication of how much the party has grown in this part of Dublin.
“Since the local elections in 2009 Sinn Féin and the Labour Party have come together to form a progressive alliance on the council and we have been delivering real and positive change for the people on a daily basis.
“Cathal is an outstanding activist who works tirelessly for the people of his constituency. Now as mayor I know that he will continue to be a force for change and will represent all of the people of south Dublin in a positive and proactive way.”
