Minister opens new equine facilities at Enniskillen
Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Michelle O’Neill, officially opened the new equine facilities at CAFRE’s Enniskillen Campus following the recent student awards ceremony. The new equine facilities include an outdoor arena, schooling gallops, a new breeding yard and young stock facilities.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister O’Neill said: “The new facilities here at CAFRE’s Enniskillen Campus are excellent and this official opening marks the start of a new era for the equine students who will benefit. In recent years, there has been a significant investment in practical teaching facilities making Enniskillen Campus, one of the premier providers of equine education and training in Ireland and Britain. From speaking with the students and industry representatives today, it is very evident that everyone is very proud to be associated with Enniskillen Campus.”
A large number of industry representatives were also present to lend their support, including Mr Joe Osborne, Chairman of the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association (ITBA), Mr Denis Macauley, Chairman of the ITBA (Northern Region), Mr John Henning, Northern Bank, Susan Irwin, BHS Development Officer Ireland and Karla Hedley Giltspur Scientific.
