Sadness at passing of Maeve Binchy
Sinn Fein spokesperson for Arts, Heritage and Sports Deputy Sandra McLellan today expressed her sadness at news of the passing of Maeve Binchy.
Speaking from Leinster House Deputy McLellan described Ms Binchy as a larger than life figure who had made an enormous contribution to Irish literature both at home and abroad.
Maeve Binchy she said “was a gifted writer who was enormously generous with her time and was someone who was always ready to help other up and coming female writers. We will miss her generosity of spirit and the rich imagination which characterized her novels, short stories and her work as a columnist and dramatist”.
