O Snodaigh to attend Alliance for No vote press conference

7 June, 2004

Sinn Féin TD Aengus O Snodaigh will tomorrow attend a press conference organised by the 'Alliance for No vote' calling for the electorate to vote No in the forthcoming Citizenship Referendum. Representatives of approximately 40 groups will be in attendance at tomorrow morning‚s press conference, which will take place at the Shelbourne Hotel Dublin.

Speaking today, Deputy O Snodaigh said:

"The 'Alliance for No vote' campaign are calling upon people to vote No in the forthcoming Citizenship Referendum on 11th June 2004. Sinn Féin is in full support of this position.

"Sinn Féin believes that this referendum will place inequality at the heart of the Irish Constitution. The government are using the referendum as a smokescreen for their ineptitude and failures over the past number of years. This referendum fundamentally undermines the Good Friday Agreement, and it comes as no surprise that the DUP has welcomed it.

"We are urging people to vote No to the racist referendum on the 11th June." ENDS
