Sports Minister congratulates local Ryder Cup golfers
Sports Minister Carál Ní Chuilín has congratulated the local golfers who helped Europe retain the Ryder Cup with a winning, stunning comeback on Sunday night.
The Minister said: "I want to extend my warmest congratulations to the European team in retaining the Ryder Cup and what was their fifth victory in the last six tournaments against the USA.
“I was also particularly delighted at the significant contribution that golfers from the island of Ireland once again made to the team's success - vice captains Darren Clarke and Paul McGinley plus Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell are all to be congratulated.
“Yet again, our golfers are proving their mettle on the international stage and showing that in this sport, as well as in many Olympic and Paralympic sports, we really are proving to be world class."
