Delay in DLA reforms welcomed - Brady

13 December, 2012 - by Mickey Brady

Sinn Féin MLA and spokesperson on Welfare, Mickey Brady has welcomed the delay in the bringing forward of the reforms in DLA.

Speaking following the announcement Mr Brady said:

“This delay is to be welcomed. We have already clearly stated that the assessment process to date to date has been inadequate and that we need to examine this closely.

“This move will give people time to get more detail on the switchover and the nature of the assessments now to be conducted by Capita.

“What is paramount is the protection of those who are most vulnerable in our society.

“We must now utilize this time to seek measures that will mitigate any negative impact that the move from DLA to PIP’s will involve.”
