Sinn Féin Councillor receives a second death threat
Sinn Féin Belfast City Councillor Jim McVeigh has received a second death threat but said it will not deter him or Sinn Féin from continuing their work at the Council.
The Sinn Féin group leader on the council said:
“The latest death threat was made this afternoon in a telephone call to a local media outlet. These death threats will only make me more determined to push ahead with Sinn Féin's work in the Council of making the City Hall a more inclusive place for all the citizens of Belfast.
“Those behind the threats to myself and other elected representatives cannot stop democracy nor will they. Belfast is a changing city and that change will not be halted by these threats.
“Certain individuals have been irresponsible in their remarks in winding people up over the democratic decision made at the Council regarding the flying of the Union flag. I call on them and all political representatives to come out and condemn this threat.” End
