Minister should not publish HSE report until Halapanavar family concerns are met: Ó Caoláin
Sinn Féin’s health spokesperson, Caoimhghin ÓCaoláin TD has noted the reaction of the husband of Savita Halapanavar to the HSE report on his wife’s death last October in Galway University Hospital.
Deputy Ó Caoláin said:
“We have noted that Praveen Halapanavar is not happy with the Health Service Executive’s 108 page report.
“He has said it does not explain why his wife died, that not everyone gave or was compelled to give evidence and that there was no cross examination.
“His reaction reflects not only the deep-felt concerns of the Halapanavar family, but of many women throughout Ireland.
“The report fails to establish the full facts. The minister must not proceed to publish a report that fails to respect not only the views, but the deep-felt pain and hurt of the husband and family of Savita Halapanavar.
“He must employ every effort to ensure that their concerns are met and fully met before the report is published and this is something that must be done immediately.”
