Ferris welcomes indications regarding sale of Coillte
Sinn Féin spokesperson on Agriculture Martin Ferris TD has welcomed the statement by Minister for Natural Resources Pat Rabbitte that the government is ‘unlikely’ now to proceed with any sale of harvesting rights on forestry land under the control of Coillte.
The Minister was responding to a question yesterday in the Dáil.
Deputy Ferris said;
“I very much welcome the Minister’s hint that Coillte harvesting rights will not now be sold off. That is clearly a consequence of the growing public opposition to any such sale, and a realisation that such a sale would represent a significant loss both economically and in terms of amenity value.”
