Praise for Families and Schools Together Programme – Sinn Féin MLA

30 May, 2013 - by Jennifer McCann

Sinn Féin MLA and Junior Minister Jennifer McCann has commended the Families and Schools Together Programme (FAST) when she addressed the graduation ceremony at St Marks Primary School in Twinbrook today.

The West Belfast MLA said:

“It is clear that programmes such as FAST that work with children and their families ensure children have a better chance to succeed at school and provide a greater opportunity for them to achieve their full potential.

“I am delighted to attend the Graduation today at St Marks PS and I want to commend the school and Save the Children for the sterling work they have done in providing parents with a more active role in their children’s education.

“I also attended the ‘Bring your parents to School Day’ earlier this week as St Kieran's PS in Poleglass. Again this was evidence that parents want to take a more active role in their child’s education and and play a greater role in the local community.

“The Executive need to bring forward more programmes such as FAST so that parents can work alongside schools and teachers to achieve the best outcomes for the children.”
