Minister’s delay in Museum of Free Derry application sign-off could jeopardise other funding – McLaughlin MLA
Sinn Féin MLA Maeve McLaughlin (Foyle) has said that an undue delay by Tourist Minister, Arlene Foster in signing off a funding application by Museum of Free Derry could jeopardise match funding from other sources.
Maeve McLaughlin said:
“This application has been with the Minister for final approval now for almost five months. There has been no indication from NI Tourist Board (NITB) that any criteria have not been met. In fact NITB informed me on the 26th February that the application was with the Minister awaiting only her signature. At no time did it indicate that further information was required. So what’s the delay?
“The Minister is aware of the implications that undue delay could have on other match funding applications. I would therefore urge the Minister to sign-off on this application or inform Bloody Sunday Trust of the nature of any further information required without delay.
“I also raised my concerns at a meeting this morning of the Committee of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment which is responsible for tourist promotion.”
