Housing Chiefs must stop sowing confusion – Fra McCann

21 June, 2013 - by Fra McCann

Sinn Féin MLA Fra McCann has hit out at senior managers in the Housing Executive for sowing the seeds of confusion on the future of the organisation.

The Sinn Féin housing spokesperson and West Belfast MLA said:

“Senior managers in the Housing Executive are sowing the seeds of confusion with workers regarding the future of the organisation and their jobs. Frankly it needs to stop now, as the Assembly has made no decision yet.

“I have been approached by a number of workers who said they were informed at a recent meeting that the Housing Executive was being broken into three new housing associations. These would cover the North with one for the South/East, one for the North/West and the other Belfast.

“Workers claimed that senior officials said there was little political support for alternatives to this proposal. Clearly this is not the case and senior managers must state publicly where this information came from and who's agenda they are advancing.

“No decision has been made yet on delivering future public housing. When it is made it will be a political decision not serving the agenda of officials, many who would like nothing better than to see the Housing Executive fragmented.”
