Transport for older rural community needs improved
Sinn Féin MLA and Junior Minister Jennifer McCann has called on the Executive
to do more to improve rural community transport for older people.
Speaking at an older people's conference in Fermanagh this morning the West Belfast MLA said”
“Community transport is one of the most pressing issues for older people living in rural communities like Kinawley and surrounding areas.
“It is clear that many people wouldn't have the opportunity to attend events like today's conference if they didn't have transport provided by local community organisations.
“All departments have a responsibility to break down the isolation and social exclusion that older people face. Bringing people together can be problematic for people who don't have transport, particularly when they live in a rural area.”
