Sinn Féin MLA’s including Caitriona Ruane, Gerry Kelly and Raymond McCartney today hosted an all Ireland delegation at Stormont to discuss problems facing the migrant community.
Ms. Ruane stated,
‘The migrant community face many problems in settling in Ireland both North and South and the rationale of todays meeting was to exchange information on problems and solutions facing the migrant community.
“There was groups who represent the migrant and their families from Mayo, Limerick, Cork, Dublin as well as support groups from the North including migrants from Bulgaria, Hungary and the United States.
Sinn Féin TD Padraig MacLochlainn accompanied by Mayo Councillor Therese Ruane added,
“This is about bringing solutions to the problems facing migrants on an all Ireland basis and todays exercise was very worthwhile. As well as discussing the issues around immigration we also had the opportunity to discuss negotiations and the Peace Process with Gerry Kelly.
“It is very important that people seeking a new life in Ireland do not feel isolated or marginalised and have access to statutory agencies and legal advice and justice.
“We will continue to develop this relationship so that we can address the issues that migrants face in their daily life.”
