SDLP confusion on academic selection

25 June, 2013 - by Chris Hazzard

Sinn Féin Education spokesperson Chris Hazzard has called on the SDLP to clarify where they stand on academic selection after Dolores Kelly stated on radio she was in favour of selection at fourteen.

 Mr. Hazzard stated,

“The SDLP claim to be anti selection yet Deputy Leader Dolores Kelly stated this morning on the radio she supported academic selection at fourteen.

“The SDLP now need to clarify their position in regards to academic selection or tell the public that there has been a change in their policy.

“This again highlights the disarray that exists within the SDLP over policy as we see then attempt to adopt a position of being for and against academic selection.

“The SDLP leader Alastair McDonnell needs to tell the public their definitive position on academic selection and whether they are for or against it.
