More support needed for cross community/border work
Sinn Féin MLA and Junior Minister Jennifer McCann has called for more support for cross community/ cross border work to challenge barriers to peace and reconciliation.
Speaking at a cross border/ cross community conference on ‘Youth for Peace Sharing the Learning’ in Clones Co Monaghan the West Belfast MLA said:
“Our young people are the future and we must support and recognise the huge contribution they are making in building bridges between divided communities.
“Through The Youth for Peace Sharing the Learning Project, young people are encouraged to recognise the similarities between each other, accept the differences and challenge the barriers to peace and reconciliation.
“There is a responsibility on us all to engage at whatever level we can in society through whatever forum we can to work together to achieve the better future our children and young people deserve.”
