Breakfast before parade for Sinn Féin PRIDE contingent

28 June, 2013

The Sinn Féin contingent for tomorrow’s Dublin Pride parade will gather at the party’s bookshop, 58 Parnell Square, at 10am to have breakfast together before participating in the march.
The Dublin Sinn Féin LGBT organiser, Chris Curran, who is also the party’s local representative in Glencullen/Sandyford, said:
“I am really looking forward to the parade tomorrow. I am proud: proud to walk with my Sinn Féin comrades in Dublin.
“The rainbow flag is flying over our bookshop today and it is symbolic of the party’s support for Pride but also its commitment to equality.
“The party’s Equal Status (Amendment) Act 2013 will be debated in the Dáil next week. It aims to tackle discrimination on nine grounds: gender, civil status, family status, age, race, religion, disability, sexual orientation and membership of the Traveller community.
“This is what Sinn Féin stands for, the republican ideals of freedom, equality and mutual support.
“Tomorrow should be fun too. Our group near the front and when we get to Merrion Square, we will be releasing hundreds of balloons. Watch out for them.”
