DUP still fail to answer Turkington question
Sinn Féin Chief Whip Caitriona Ruane has said that 24 hours on from the Assembly debate and almost a week on from the Spotlight programme the DUP are continuing to ‘dodge and hide’ on the issue.
Ms Ruane said:
“Yesterday as I opened the Assembly debate I posed a very simple yet serious question to the DUP members present. And it is a question which strikes to the very core of the public disquiet on this issue. Allegations were made in the BBC programme surrounding meetings between the Minister and Turkington Holdings. So the question I put is blindingly obvious.
“Is Trevor Turkington or any of his companies or fellow directors in them donors to the DUP?
“Yet DUP speaker after DUP speaker yesterday got to their feet in the Assembly chamber and ignored totally this very obvious question. The DUP dodged and hid for two hours but failed entirely to address any of the legitimate concerns raised by the Spotlight programme.
“That is simply not good enough. Bluster and foot stamping in the Assembly is no substitute for facing up to the serious issues which need addressed. So today I repeat the question again. Is Trevor Turkington or any of his companies or fellow directors in them donors to the DUP? ”
