Narrow Water bridge project should go ahead - Ruane

9 July, 2013 - by Caitríona Ruane

Sinn Féin MLA Caitríona Ruane has stated that the economic significance of the Narrow Water bridge project cannot be lost and that all should endeavor to ensure that this project reaches completion.

Speaking today Ms Ruane said:

“Sinn Féin remain committed to this project. It is economically of huge significance for the area.

“A lot of work has been carried out to date so as to bring the bridge to this stage. Only today the Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy backed the project by pressing forward with the bridge order and we welcome that.

“Given that this is an infrastructural project, in the overall scheme of things it is a relatively small amount of money and must be considered alongside the long term economic benefits that it would bring to the Down and Louth area.

“I would press the Irish and British governments along with the Executive and Europe to work closely together in order to ensure that the money is found and this project can reach completion.”
