Call for calming influence after bomb death threats to Sinn Féin MLAs
Following telephoned death threats to two Sinn Féin MLAs, North Belfast councillor Conor Maskey has called on the Orange Order and political unionism to use their influence to calm tensions.
Conor Maskey said:
“Earlier today a caller to our North Belfast office claimed that bombs had been left at both the homes of Carál Ní Chuilín and Gerry Kelly.
“The PSNI were informed and thankfully no devices were found at either Carál or Gerry’s home. With tensions already high I would call on the Orange Order and political unionism to use their influence to calm the situation.
“Everyone deserves to have a peaceful summer and all those with influence should ensure their words do not add to any already existing tension.”
