Stormont raids were political

31 July, 2004

Sinn Fein Assembly group leader, Newry Armagh MLA Conor Murphy has said that the PSNI raid on Sinn Fein's offices in Stormont was clearly politically motivated.

Mr Murphy said:

"The PSNI raid on Sinn Fein party offices in Stormont was clearly politically motivated. They were theatrically stage managed.

"The objective of securocrats was to collapse the political institutions and create a crisis in the peace process that could be blamed on republicans.

"It was yet another example of the damaging agenda of securocrats within the NIO and PSNI as evidenced by the leaks, lies and misinformation from faceless 'security' sources at the time." ENDS
