Deputy McLellan expresses her sympathies on the death of Colm Murray
Sinn Féin spokesperson on Sport and Tourism, Deputy Sandra McLellan, has expressed her sympathies on the death of Colm Murray yesterday.
Deputy McLellan said: “Colm Murray was widely respected by his peers and by his audience. He had one of the most recognisable faces and voices on Irish television, and was regarded with tremendous fondness by the Irish public.
“In particular, his knowledge and passion for horse racing was unmatched and his love for the sport was truly infectious. I extend my deepest sympathies to his wife Anne, daughters Kate and Patricia and family and his colleagues in RTE.
“His passing yesterday was made all the more poignant, as it coincided with the Galway Races, one of the great events of Irish racing in which Colm played a significant part.
“He bore his illness with remarkable dignity and fortitude, and was truly inspirational in how he faced it. However, there was much more to the man than what he faced in his final year and he will always be remembered fondly as a journalist of the highest calibre.”
