More spin, more promises to be broken from health minister: Sinn Féin
Commenting on reports that health minister, James Reilly, is considering introducing free GP care for children under five years old, Cork Sinn Féin TD, Jonathan O’Brien, said:
"This is another vague promise and a dose of spin about free GP care for young children, from a minister who, in reality, is going in the opposite direction.
“He is denying discretionary medical cards to gravely ill people, including children with cancer.
“The Minister's plans for universal health insurance have not been set out in any detail. His promise of free GP care for people with long term illness was broken.
“Now another promise is made. This coalition's health policy is contradictory while on the ground it imposes cutbacks to vital care."
