Sinn Féin to choose Dublin EU election candidate today
Sinn Féin is to choose its Dublin candidate for next year’s EU election at a convention today. (29 September 2013).
The main speaker at the convention will be party president, Gerry Adams TD and two candidates will contest. The convention is at the Pillar Room at the Rotunda, Parnell Square, Dublin 1at 3pm.
Lynn Ní Bhaoigheallain has been active in Sinn Féin for eight years and contested the 2007 general election and the 2009 local election in South Kerry. In 2009 she returned to Dublin. She is a native of Tallaght and a member of the Markievicz Ryan Farrell cumann she is also on the party’s Ard Comhairle.
She is interested in EU Policy and politics, particularly in the areas of employment, public transport, environment and food regulation.
Ryan FitzGerald’s family is from West Clare, having left Ireland in 1923 for Chicago, where he was raised. His family has a history of activism in the trade union movement throughout Chicago. In 2003 he moved to Dublin, following a career in the United States Marine Corps. He joined the Joe Clark Cumann and studied to become a solicitor at Blackhall Place.
