Ferris expresses concern over Dairygold closures
Sinn Fein Spokesperson on Agriculture and Rural Development Martin Ferris TD, has expressed grave concern over the announcement that Dairygold is to close its two plants at Mitchelstown, County Cork, and Roscrea County Tipperary with the loss of 270 jobs.
Deputy Ferris said: "These closures will have devastating effects on the people who are to lose their jobs and our sympathy must above all else be extended to the workers involved. I am also concerned at the manner in which the closures were announced and the apparent ignoring of established procedures involving workers representatives. The closures are also a blow to the Irish food industry and call into question the Government's strategy for this sector."ENDS
