Loss of Milk Cup sponsorship disappointing

21 October, 2013 - by Cathal Ó hOisín

Sinn Féin MLA Cathal O hÓisín has said that he is disappointed that the Dairy Council has ended its sponsorship of the Milk Cup.

 Mr. Ó hOisín said,

“The Milk Cup is probably the foremost amateur soccer tournament in the North so I am disappointed that the Dairy Council has ended it sponsorship.

“The Dairy Council needs to be thanked for its long term investment in this competition over the past thirty years and I hope that they will in the future return in some capacity.

“The Milk Cup apart from being a premier soccer tournament is also a major economic driver in the North West so I am pleased that the organisers have stated that the future is secure.

“This competition needs to attract other sponsorship and I have been a long term supporter of the competition and recognise the economic benefits it brings to Coleraine and Limavady area. I will work my capacity as MLA to assist the organisers in securing the long term future of this competition.”
