Call for calm after stabbings

1 November, 2013

Sinn Féin councillor Stephen Magennis has appealed for calm after several stabbings in the Poleglass area this morning.

“The West Belfast Councillor said:

“Residents are obviously concerned and fearful after these stabbings, especially since two took place in broad daylight.

“It is worrying that people are lifting potentially lethal weapons to resolve disputes.

“These stabbings are unrepresentative of the vast majority of people in Poleglass and I would call on residents to remain calm.

“Anyone with any information about the incidents or if they see any potential attacks developing should immediately contact the PSNI. Safer Neighbourhood workers will also be on the ground to assist in any way possible.”
