Senator Mullen using Reilly’s loss to score cheap political points – Cullinane
Sinn Féin Senator and Seanad leader, David Cullinane, has today criticised Senator Rónán Mullen for his berating of Sinn Féin Senator Kathryn Reilly for her absence from the Seanad for a vote on the issue of pylons tabled by Senator Mullan, despite this being due to bereavement.
Senator Cullinane said:
“Kathryn Reilly was absent from the Seanad for a vote on the issue of pylons tabled by Senator Rónán Mullen and seconded by the Sinn Féin senators.
“I spoke to Senator Mullen that day and informed him that, due to bereavement, Senator Reilly would be unable to attend for the vote.
“It is not Rónán Mullen's place to judge when Senator Reilly can and cannot attend a funeral. He is using someone’s loss to score cheap political points and to up his profile for the EU elections.”
