Workers facing less hours and reduced earnings – Cullinane
Responding to the publication of the latest economic indicators today Sinn Féin spokesperson for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation David Cullinane said;
“The Central Statistics Office released figures today which show that average weekly earnings have reduced by 2.4% and since this government came to power the average number of hours worked by those in employment has fallen.
“Our workers now face less hours, reduced earnings and continuing inflation and yet this government continues to place additional costs on workers with the local property charge and the proposed introduction of water charges. This is all money that is being drawn out of the domestic economy.
“The government needs to increase employment and safeguard the earnings of our workers.”
